SAGUIJO CAFE + BAR
If there is one place in Manila that I will never get bored of, it’s Saguijo Cafe + Bar. The venue is located in a quiet neighbourhood on Guijo St (hence that name which translates to ‘On Guijo’) in San Antonio Village, Makati. The quality of the live music that it offers never fails to amaze me. If you don’t know what to do and enjoy live music, Saguijo Cafe + Bar will never disappoint! The setting reminds me of an underground, indie rock venue in London plus the outdoor tables are perfect to enjoy Filipino dishes. There is usually a small entry fee which includes one beer and, of course, the show.
12 MONKEYS MUSIC HALL AND PUB
I has been a year since 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub moved from Makati to its new location in Ortigas but it still remains a favourite gig spot in Metro Manila!

TAGO JAZZ CAFE
Every city has its own Jazz temple. In Manila, it’s Tago Jazz Cafe which hosts authentic jazz performances every night for true Jazz lovers and enthusiasts. “Tago” in Tagalog means hidden: and the venue is actually located in an old house in Cubao, Quezon City, hidden in plain sight. There is no sign at the entrance: trust your good hearing and follow the music!
One of Manila’s longstanding live music venues, Route 196 on the northside, is home to many of Manila’s indie and OPM (Original Pinoy Music) bands. The cosy band room is lined with gig memorabilia and there is a seating area where you can enjoy food with your live music. There’s a also a more spacious seating area outside before you enter the venue. It’s located on busy Katipunan Avenue so keep an eye out for the large retro signage which also lists which bands are featuring on any given night.
