In celebration of National Literature Month the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and UP Film Institute will hold a conference on Cinema and Literature and film screenings. The event will be first attempt at putting together a survey of the rich interwinings between Filipino literature and cinema, from its inception a hundred years ago until the present. It will also try to show how these interactions across the disciplines helped popularize and spread Filipino language.

10:30 AM–Symbiosis: From print and stage to the screen and back (Nicanor Tiongson, Soledad Reyes & Patricia May Jurilla)
1:30 PM–The search for a national language and the rise of Tagalog cinema (Rolando Tolentino, Neil Martial Santillan, Gary Devilles)
3:00 PM–Neglected Auteurs and Litterateurs (Clodualdo Del Mundo, Jr., Tito Genova Valiente, Teddy Co)
6:00 PM–Kaaway ng Babae
